A new control to the heart of the system

This is probably the most significant change to the system as it allows total customisation of the front page. It enables the user to select the key information from the system and thus be in firm control. A barrister, clerk or Chambers' manager can have completely different front screen views, depending on what Key Performance Indicators and reports they wish to see and which parts of the system they wish to have access to. This can include diary bookings, reports and statistics, outstanding work and on-line services. It can be displayed in text, tabular or graphical format. The information displayed on these pages is drawn from live data and so is completely up-to-date. It presents a snapshot of the data that is vital to the user at log on, enabling fast yet informed decision making and planning. All modules are accessed from the home page.

Access from anywhere in the world

Probably the most important area for remote access is the Diary, which has links to all relevant case information. A web interface will be provided for diary access via the internet which will allow real-time updates to the data as well as access to the user's own customised home page giving access to his information anywhere at anytime. Remote two way communication with Chambers is made easy.

A new breed of diary
|
|
The new diary booking screen allows ad hoc, regular, repeat, or irregular bookings to be made with one booking. Multiple booking screens can be opened at the same time, allowing the user to leave an uncompleted booking open in order to deal with another enquiry or to make another booking. Notification of diary bookings, amendments and deletions can be sent directly via email from the booking screen. Group diary bookings retain the link to attendees so that the bookings can be modified or amended collectively. On screen diary booking reminders can be set with a user definable lead time. The pop-up reminder window is displayed on screen regardless of whether the user has the diary open or not.
Task management within the diary has been radically improved - users are now able to view or update paperwork tasks via the diary system. Barristers and clerks can easily see what is outstanding and can prioritise accordingly and all of this information can be emailed with a couple of clicks. And of course, the diary is completely user tailorable.

Turning information into business opportunities

The standard reporting capabilities with the system are very flexible. Reporting comes with user definable formats and can be mastered easily. An additional module - the "BAR" brings a new dimension to reporting. The additional Business Analysis Reporting module brings with it the power to turn all Chambers' data into management information and enables managers to take decisions armed with facts rather than assumptions. If it is recorded within the system, it can be reported on. Information will be presented in ExcelTM, allowing easy manipulation and display. Using a report subscription system, reports can be delivered automatically to all subscribers at pre-set times. On demand reports can be run whenever required. Complex reports can be designed and pre-defined reports will also be supplied as part of the module.

The advanced case management system within Meridian Law Connected enables users to create automated processes that effect the internal administration, client relationship management and debt management of a case throughout its life cycle in Chambers. Key events and their triggers and conditions can be created allowing any or all actions in a case to be distributed, recorded and managed within Chambers to improve the efficiency of a busy clerks' room and an individual barrister's practice. The full integration with Microsoft Office means that these events can be distributed and monitored easily. The innovative Case Management that is now offered within Meridian Law Connected is the most advanced, time saving and cost effective Case Management system available for Chambers, which includes configurable billing, case administration and debt management cycles, multi-currency, multiple fee note templates, centralised document libraries and multi party contact and reference storage.

Having worked with the legal profession we understand the need for all users that liaise with clients to have the right information at their fingertips. The Meridian Alert Manager is designed to push key information to you based on criteria set by each user. For example, if a case has an aged debt reaching a limit defined by the user, that user will be alerted that the limit is being reached. If a task is nearing completion an alert can be sent to each user warning them that the task is due for completion shortly. And if a new client instructs chambers you can ensure that the right person is informed and the right actions are taken.

The tight integration between diary bookings, case management and email means that all updates to the diary, as they are linked to cases, can be emailed to relevant people each time a change or addition is made.
All case information and correspondence can be sent electronically. Even documents received in hard copy can be easily scanned and sent. The Meridian Law Connected Document Imaging system allows any document to be scanned and stored behind a case record. Additionally, automatic distribution of correspondence by email such as acknowledgements, reminders and fee notes is also built in.
With the high level of automation that Meridian Law Connected brings, the system is able to send automatic emails that prompt and remind users to perform a task.
