The Dell OptiPlex GX520 is available in three formats: Mini Tower (MT) Desktop (DT) and Small Form Factor (SF).

Major changes to previous models include:

• BTX standard BTX chassis design, power supply and motherboard are designed for thermal efficiency, improved reliability and quieter operation compared to previous OptiPlex models.
• HyperCool thermal management technology, which uses variable speed fans with less power and quieter operation compared to previous OptiPlex models.
• Direct Detect – replaces the LEDs previously at the rear of the OptiPlex range with a front view status indication of hard drive activity, network connection and overall system health
