2002 was a landmark year in the development of Mountain Software. In January 2002, it acquired the highly successful software company Meridian Law which had 60% of the Barristers' market place. In
November 2002, following consultation with and approval from the OFT, it also acquired Applied Computer Expertise, the other major player in the market giving the company a 95% market share.
The emphasis for this section of the business is therefore on account management and development. Mountain Software has a very strong account management team dedicated to looking after this client base.
The vocal, active user group, meets quarterly to discuss how it would like to see the future development of the software, hear about the company's progress and details of new products, as well as plans for new releases of existing products. Longer term innovations and ideas are also brought to the user group for demonstration and discussion.
The software provides an electronic chambers management system, which integrates scheduling and billing information, automates administrative tasks, and provides enhanced diary functions. Its diary management system, which is extremely reliable, versatile and easy to use, is completely integrated with its case and fees management system and forms the core of the system. Bookings are generated from case database information, allowing for speed of use and rapid data entry.
It provides both internal and external interfaces and can be accessed remotely. Integration with Outlook also allows for wireless synchronisation in real time to compatible handheld devices such as a
Blackberry or Pocket PC.
It has extremely powerful and detailed reporting capabilities, particularly with the successful launch of the 'Business Analyser' product, which has been extremely well received by the market.
